What is the best way to start into a Wednesday? Exactly, with a good coffee and a group ride to one of the most beautiful places on the island of Mallorca. So, today we joined the Café du Cycliste Mallorca Cappucino Ride which is starting every Wednesday at 0900h from the Palma store in the heart of the town.
After a tasty café con leche or cappuccino the group headed towards today’s destination, Port de Valdemossa. Some call it the Mini-Sa-Calobra, maybe because you have to descend first before climbing up again. But it is pretty much different from the famous Sa Calobra climb. It’s a super small and narrow and partly bumby road leading from the outskirts of the the well-known town of Valdemossa to a pitoresque small harbour town with a small pebble beach. The views you can enjoy on the way are absolutely incredible. The impressive mountains of the Tramuntana on the one side, the deep blue ocean on the other. The great thing is, even during high-season it’s not so crowded as the more famous climbs on the island. And to be fair, the climb is only half of Sa Calobra to Coll dels Reis, approximately 5km with an average incline of 7,5%. But all in all it easily made it on our list of the Top 5 most beautiful climbs in Mallorca. So, if you want to give it a try, what we stronly recommend, check this link to the Strava route.
And don’t forget to join one of the next Wednesday Cappucino Rides. Besides nice people and great routes, Café du Cycliste has a nice bonus at hand: All participating riders have a 20% discount on Café du Cycliste jerseys instore.
